According to legend, the cast of the switched:ON Show began doing episodes in 1965, a few years before any of them were even born. Since podcasting had not been invented yet, the 'time-shifting' was made possible by traveling to the world's first Dip 'N Dots stand (it's the ice cream 'of the future') and moving back and forth to the 21st century. With no digital media to store things on, these recordings were eventually lost, or misplaced during paradox event rerouting and a select few were turned into tame deer currently living in a wildlife reserve near Greenbay, WI.

Back in the naturally occuring timeline, hosts Jerry and Bryan are step brothers and have been since the early 80s. Jerry and Rob met while working at a sales-support call center in the mid-90s, where they apparently got very little work done, and instead honed their skills in the craft of making people laugh 'till they can't breathe.

Later that decade, Jerry and Bryan started a small record label which Jerry suggested Rob be involved in. The three would get together to work on music projects and build the label, but would really end up just laughing hard enough to go into convulsions and make Bryan stop breathing and drool a lot. Much of the same followed.

After a few other projects, some website/graphic design company plans and a few million post-laughing attempts to catch their breath, Jerry brought up podcasting to Bryan. A bit of research turned up an incredible new way to infect the world with crazy ideas, rediculous behavior and completely fucked up ideas. The switched:ON Show was born.
